Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen, Good Morning.
On behalf of I-Shou University, I would like to express my cordial
welcome to all of you for attending the Conference on Applied English Teaching
at our University.
Due to
globalization, English has become the most important international language. It
is crucial for us to know how to adapt to diverse concepts and cultural
recognition in applied English teaching. The teaching strategies and English
learners’ motive and attitude are also important issues for successful
teaching. We should understand the global trend and revise the content in
English education to boost the competitiveness of our students in job market.
The main
purpose of this conference is to discuss the applied English education in
Taiwan, to share the opinions of English teaching theories among scholars,
professors and researchers from all over the world and to brainstorm the new
ideas in practical usage. I hope through this conference, we can have
innovative conclusions on important issues such as course design and
evaluation, teaching methods and researches, learner’s attitude and cultural
recognition.
I-Shou
University is a distinguished comprehensive university in Taiwan. We have 8
colleges and 16,000 students. We are determined to make our university as an
internationalized university. Currently we have MOU with over 170 universities
in the world. Our honorable guests are most welcome to collaborate with us.
Kaohsiung is
the 2nd largest metropolitan city with about 3 million populations and has many
beautiful sightseeing places. Kaohsiung port is the 6th largest container port
in the world. I hope all of you will enjoy your stay in our beautiful campus
and Kaohsiung city.
